Teaching gender values in a seconday school

To promote gender values, 27 students, two girls and 25 boys, in an ESL class in an Italian secondary school were involved in a three months experience. They watched three TED talks videoclips about three contemporary women’s stories, then they were invited in groups to work on the comprehension, to answer some questions about the main aspects of the contents of these videos, then to share their opinions, improving English as for oral and written communication, supported by ICTs. The experience took place in an innovative classroom, equipped with Interactive Whiteboards, the Internet connection and some laptops. Students’ attention and fluency in the use of English increased, as well as their awareness of gender values.
