The aim of the seminar is to discusss approaches to the teaching and assessing of register awareness in writing. The discussion will focus on text genres covered by the foreign language examination syllabus in Lithuania, namely: letter, paragraph and essay. The participants will revisit the criterion of register in the assessment of written tasks of the English examination and do a range of activities. They will learn to identify informal and semi-formal register in written texts and enhance their understanding of register in written learner language.
