On 24 October 2026, the IATEFL Associates Online Conference took place under the theme “Building Sustainability in Teaching Associations”. Four representatives of the Lithuanian Association of Teachers of English (LAKMA) took part in the conference, joining colleagues from different countries to share ideas and experiences on building sustainable teacher associations.
Austėja Maskoliūnaitė represented LAKMA and delivered a presentation entitled “Making Membership Matter: A Sustainable Value Model at LAKMA”.
Her presentation focused on LAKMA’s experience in creating value for its members through professional development opportunities, seminars, webinars, member benefits and digital resources such as LAKMA Hub and Moodle. She also highlighted the importance of effective communication, member engagement and making it easier for teachers to participate and contribute to the association’s activities.
The key message was that a sustainable association is built on strong relationships with its members. By understanding their needs, offering meaningful benefits and encouraging active participation, LAKMA can continue to strengthen its professional community and create lasting value for English language teachers in Lithuania.
