From April 3 to May 15, LAKMA hosted an online seminar Materials for Teaching Mediation exclusively for its members. During the seminar, participants explored a new set of classroom tasks and activities focusing on text mediation and the mediation of group collaboration processes. These resources are now available on the LAKMA Moodle platform.
The materials presented are the result of LAKMA’s participation in the PRELIM 3 (Partnered Remote Language Improvement) project. They are specifically designed to support Lithuanian teachers of English in helping students develop mediation skills such as relaying information, processing texts, explaining data, translating, note-taking, and responding to creative texts. Elements of interpersonal mediation are also integrated into the tasks.
The seminar was led by Dr. Eglė Petronienė, who presented the materials and facilitated discussions on how to prepare for mediation classes and how to adapt the mediation tasks and activities to various teaching contexts. Following the seminar, participants piloted the tasks in their classrooms and shared valuable feedback through an online form.
A warm thank-you to all colleagues for their involvement, thoughtful contributions, and insightful reflections!
