As the future calls for new ways of thinking and problem-solving, fostering students’ creativity and critical thinking has become more important than ever—particularly when tackling global issues like climate change. This practical seminar offers educators engaging, ready-to-use classroom strategies centred on climate-themed materials. Seminar participants will explore the Critical Media Literacy framework and learn how to engage students in analysing media through a critical lens. They will also be introduced to Place-Based Learning, which demonstrates how connecting learning to local environments can deepen students’ understanding and personal investment in climate issues. Finally, participants will get acquainted with the Read Aloud method as a powerful tool for sparking discussion, empathy, and reflection. All strategies and materials are designed for both middle school and high school students.
